What do you look forward to most about getting older?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 05, 2008:
Lillyanna and Grandma2a- 05-30-08
I may be only forty-one, but the life I've led has made me wiser and stronger, two gifts of maturity. Many of my girlfriends believe that life would be so much better if they were young again. My response is always the same. "Why would I want to go back and do all that @%$& again? It took me forty-one years to get this far! I don't want to go back for anyone or anything!"
I see every birthday as a gift. I am one year wiser, stronger, deeper, more spiritual, more secure, more magickal and more passionate about the things I love. I am currently working on a ceremony to embrace my inner-crone, to be completed on the winter solstice.
I welcome the blessings of aging. I look forward to all the family coming to MY house for the holidays and not having to drive in bad weather. I look forward to the grandchildren being old enough to take fishing and not caring what is on TV. I look forward to quiet evenings with my wonderful soul mate, Robert, a bag of popcorn and a good movie. I look forward to sharing the wisdom of my age with those who struggle and seek guidance. I look forward to senior citizen discounts on various products and services. (Every little bit helps.) I look forward to quiet mornings, longer naps, and more time to work on my crafts. I look forward to being the awesome grandmother for my grandgirls that my Grandma Bonnie was for me and my mother is for my own children. I look forward to taking nature walks with my grandkids and seeing the world through their eyes. I look forward to rejoining with the Creator and preparing for the next incarnation. (But I'm not ready to go anywhere just now. I have way too much living to do.)
While it is true that the older you get, the more you hurt, I feel that the physical pains one must endure to achieve maturity are well worth the wisdom gained from truly living. Age is a gift. Wisdom is eternal.
What a wonderful question! Thank you for asking.
